Clinical Observation on the Treatment of Simple Obesity with Acupuncture,Chinese Herb and Meal-Replacement

Abstract  Objective: To observe the effect of acupuncture,Chinese herb and meal-replacement on simple obesity.

Methods: 92 cases of simple obesity were treated with acupuncture, Chinese herb and meal-replacement for 1 month; 22 of which were treated for 2 months. The weight, muscle, fat, waist-hip ratio and basal metabolism were compared respectively after half month, 1 month and 2 months.

Results
: The weight, fat and waist-hip ratio were decreased significantly in the first month. The muscle and basal metabolism were decreased significantly in the former half month and slightly in the later half month. In the second month, the weight, fat and waist-hip ratio continued to be decreased significantly, while the muscle and basal metabolism remained the same.

Conclusions
: The effect of acupuncture, Chinese herb and meal-replacement was good and reliable, which was better after 2 months treatment.
